Vinegar on a wasp sting actually does wrok because it neutralises the sting. i got stung two days ago and it worked really well, didnt believe it before though, ammonia also works. its bicarbanate of soda on bee stings. Acid for wasps, alkali for bees. Is a superstition like an old wives tale??

It's not the Dock leaf that helps with the nettle sting it's the sap in the leaf that soothes the nettle sting if you crush it up enough yocan get some sap from the leaf and put it on the nettle sting then. It has always worked for me, but then everyone is different.

This really works,it's something about the juice from the leaves acting on the acid from the nettle,a lot of these old wives tales are based on folk lore and have their basis in tried and tested remidies
