Popular people in HS tended to value social interactions, partying, and hanging out over other stuff. Most of them got knocked up early, still get drunk even now, live in a ratty apartment, and work as a cashier somewhere. Sure they looked good in HS but when mommy and daddy stopped paying their way, they didn't know what to do.

Nerds went on to college, got a decent GPA, and now hold down good jobs. They're the ones in their 30s with a mini-mansion, are just now having kids, have travelled the world, like their jobs, and enjoy more out of life.

Some are in jail, some are in the military, some are popular and still in the groove with the beautiful, the movers and shakers only now, in the business world instead, some are dead and some are still losers, some are crazy. Some conformed and some didn't. Some have everything and some had everything and lost it. Some are STILL using drugs! and unfortunately some died in 911 in the twin towers.

I don't think it has anything what so ever to do with bully or bullied, popular or unpopular. I think it has more to do with self esteem and social grouping skills... networking so to speak. I was both bullied and then became a bully I was both in with the popular kids and the rejects... "Critters and metal heads." as they were called in my High School. I turned out okay for my own personal standards and needs. Screw everyone else!

I am anti social and don't buy into peoples social, pretentious, phony politically correct, sh*it. But I was destined to be that anyway. That came from home life... not school

Some popular kids went on to be very successful, while others did not do so well. Those who did not do so well became drug addicts, alcoholics, or under acheivers.

The same can be said of those who were not popular. Some went on to be very successfull and others did not. Those who did not turned into drug addicts, alcoholics or under acheivers.

This has little to do with popularity and everything to do with individuals. While teenagers can lump people into groups, like the "popular" crowd, the "geeks" (who did the best in life for them selves by the way!), the "losers", the "unpopular", etc, after reaching adulthood they all become individuals and as such are judged as individuals and not by what "group" they "belonged" to during highschool.

I found those who came from loving supportive familes, regardless of popularity, have done very welll for themselves over their lives. While those who came from broken, dysfunctional families, regardless of popularity, have much more difficulties in life.

What really matters is how a child's self esteem developes. Being popular during highschool does not mean they had high self esteeem. While not being popular in high school does not mean they had low self esteem either. So, again, what ever "group" somebody "belonged" in highschool has little to do with how they turned out.

The popular people, who achived their greatest stature in life in high school are now mostly veg-ing in a small town. The mainly unpopular ones, got out of town quickly went to school or into business. Most are doing quite well.
