Depends on the time of year, how much I think he can afford, (or not afford, I want to make sure I don't break him) and make sure he likes that type of food too. If he asks after picking me up, I would take what we are wearing into consideration too.

I love Mexican, Greek, and Italian food as long as there isn't any dead cow or pig involved! LOL...don't eat hooved animals here...26 years abstinence.

I am thinking price rather then one particular restaurant. I would pick a middle of the road price line. TGIF Olive Garden Rubey Tues.
I don't know if this is a first date or your 100th , but if your not sure pick 3 and let him choose.

The female can eat salad and pasta.
The guy can eat lasagna and other meaty food with cheese.
Or you can always share a pizza.
Also wine makes the gilr look sexier drinking it (If this is a drinking date) and makes the gue look sophisticated than just ordering beer.

Just make sure to hold off on the garlic bread if you're planning on kissing or doing more later!!

I will make a suggestion, but always ask if that is ok with her.

My first choices would be pizza and/or Italian (which may or may not include the option of pizza), because i feel there is the greatest chance of her finding something she likes there.

(Bonus: i love Italian food, especially pizza.)
