"WASHINGTON (AP) — Republican leaders are willing to allow the first minimum wage increase in a decade but only if it's coupled with a cut in future inheritance taxes on multimillion-dollar estates, congressional aides said Friday."

Sure, we'll let the working-class Americans make a few more bucks at their job if you give rich people more money? Sounds rather shady to me.

Well , it's amazing that USA has the lowest minimum wage of the western countries . USA is the only country where people can't live on a minimum wage without having several jobs. Most of that money will go to health insurance (if they can afford that ).
Instead there should be a "living wage". Chicago did something good recently when a new bill of living wage was signed. There where wild protests from Wallmart and others of course , saying that this will decrease job opportunities because wallmart will pull away from the area .. It's really sick .. Studies shows that giving a higher salary to people is good for the economy , because it creates a greater consumer power , more money get recycled back into the economy . How ever the rich knows about this but they dint care (because they are all ready rich), because they enjoy so much being so much further ahead of others, and they just love seeing other people suffer.

Yes, shady, we the people need the estate tax to make up for the multinational corporations storing money in the caymans from China and India etc. profits. When the products were made in the U.S. the people got the tax money.

Its over due and of course it is shady everything these new republicans do is shady. Remember when a employer pays you minimum wage he is really saying that if he could he would pay you less.

any of this news to anyone?? the gov is corrupt to the core - and when bright eyed new politicians get off the farm and get to Washignton, they pick up where the last guy left off - they suddenly see, oh fight for rights no one will appreciate, that never are gonna pass, or take a million dollars tax free for my family a year..hmm

and those that do stand against the total corruption are probably the ones that the feds find cocaine and child porn in their dresser drawers....hmmm, coincedance?

This proves it is all about politics... meaning clearly they do not want to help the working class and this makes it obvious that their end goal is to help the rich get richer.

Btw, thank you for this info. I didn't know this.

Also, they only stand to gain because most states are increasing it anyways. My state just increased it to 6.15

I heard about that and I think its crap. I don't think that it's worth it. If Democrats agree to this it will really hurt their campaigns and help the Republicans maintain their majority.
