space is dark since space doesn't have it's gravitational pull (assuming that light has mass). Light cannot be attracted to it. (I also hope that this was your question.)

It would simply be way too big to light it all up. You also must remember that light only travels as fast as the speed of light and Light also fades as it travels further distances.

i have space in my closet that is dark, but assum it is because there is no light! wait, can it be so simple, the absents of light causes dark!.....
