I got my IUD the Mirena about 16 months ago and for the last year I would say that I have been having the WORST groin aches along with bad cramps and a backache. I know it is still in place BUT I AM IN PAIN. Could this be a infection? The doctors seemed puzzled and then today they were like well we would like you to come in and be checked out. I can't take this anymore. WHat could this be? What should be done? ALso my body seems to reject man made hormones like in BCP and so forth. This was a last resort. PLEASE HELP> WHAT SHOULD I DO?

maybe it's the IUD... they do make an alternative IUD... (mirena does contain hormones you know... progesterone... didnt they tell you that???) the other IUD is copper & contains no hormones.
perhaps you should have this one taken out, wait a bit & then try the copper one, or try the sponges, they are back on the market now.

Ahh.. finally someone with that same problem i had. I had the Mirena IUD put in, and probably right around a year and a half or so i started getting what felt like early labor pains.. it was horrible. It was like being in labor all over again with the backache, cramps, muscle aches.. it was horrid.! i went to my doctor for a routine pap smear, and she said that the string of my IUD was way too far up, and that I needed to see a gynecologist. so i did, and he said that my IUD had been put in wrong, it was right next to my uterus where it should be or in front of it, mine was way up in the side and twisted! when he took it out i felt like i was going to die.. the pain was so bad. but now, i am not sexually active and same as you, i cannot use BC pills... although, recently i thought i was going to become sexually active and she found a BCP that is just right for people like us, unless you have tried it already. it's called Micronor, and it has the lowest amount of hormones in it, and you have to take it at the same time every day. There is a generic called Jovilette.. so you could ask for that to save money. Hope I helped you, but i think you should definetley get it taken out, because you do NOT want to deal with an infection in your uterus or anywhere else inside... could lead to infertility.

It could be the mirena IUD because it does have a small amount of progestyerone implanted into it and if you cant tolerate it in pills then Id say you couldnt in the IUD. An alternative if you still want an IUD is Paraguard IUD. It does not have any hormones and lasts for 10 years compared to mirenas 5.

I'd go and see your doctor and tell them every thing you'd like to have answered about the IUD and the hormones and such.

It might be caused by the IUD it could be causing pressure or not in the right place as you think it should be.

Like I said... Talk with your DR. and let them help you out and if they don't seem to help any.. I'd try another doctor because it never hurts to have someone else give their input.

I'M NOT SURE IF THIS IS THE SAME CASE BUT I HAD THE SAME THING AND THE OBGYN FOUND THAT MY BODY WAS SIMPLY REJECTING IT. IT MADE MY WHITE BLOOD CELLS GO UP TO THE POINT I HAD TO HAVE IT REMOVED BECAUSE I WAS GETTING SICK.
