Check out your state's Department of State or Secretary of State website. It will have the info you need to file your business-- corporation, LLC, partnerships, etc.--with the state. It's pretty easy. I set up a California LLC on my own a few months back. The one for California is: http://www.ss.ca.gov/business/business.htm

To get a Federal Employers Tax ID number, search the IRS's website, or call them. I believe you could even get a tax ID number over the phone once you have your corporation registered with the state.
