Yes it is. Why dont you compose music by yourself rather than ponder about on something someone else has done.
I mean, the true musicians toil day and night to get the best out of them and DJs just take the shortcut to earn only 'fast fame'.
They never last for long.
Take my advice, rather than coping others try to be original in your ideas.
DARE TO BE DIFFERENT.
BEST OF LUCK!!!

You're only 16. You have a lot of choices to choose from still. But if you really want to be a DJ, do what your heart desires. Always follow your heart. Listen to your parents, though, but leave out the stupid crap. No one deserves that word. Come up with other alternatives, or other careers that you can fall back to IF being a DJ doesn't work out for you. Trust me, there are a lot of other careers that will work for you if being a DJ isn't it. Best wishes to you!

Yes they are right. There are so many other decisions a 16 yr old can make, being a Dr., engineer, lawyer, or a teacher. How about choosing one of those? The good news there is that there aren't many bad influences in those career paths and all you need is education to achieve them. You know how many people want to be a DJ? How many people will succeed at it? What sets you apart from everyone else? Those are things you have to think about and have serious answers for before making a decision about what you want to do.

If it's something you want to do, by all means DO IT! One suggestion though... Finish school. You can dj on the weekends if you want to until you graduate.

I've been in radio for 20 years, and it doesn't pay worth a damn unless you're doing private gigs on the side. Get your education so you have something to fall back on, but go after your dream...it IS a lot of fun!

The criminal age is sixteen in Canada, so as that takes away the subject of statutory rape. i'm 14 years older than my companion, yet then i'm in my mid 50s and he's in his early 40s which aspects us so lots extra existence experience in person-friendly. If something, he's the "brake" on my impetuosity, and while i'm all gung-ho to circulate skydiving from a airplane he's the guy who will ring a bell in me I had my knee replaced merely six months in the past and is skydiving quite the type of advantageous thought! If I have been going to make a guideline: artwork on turning out to be friends -- and terrific friends, at that -- in the past even thinking introducing intercourse into the dating. you have already got a bargain of existence experience which he would not; and one ingredient it quite is person-friendly between gay and as we communicate adult men is that our first real romantic and sexual experience is rather severe and this is real user-friendly for us to get our hearts broken. He may well be eye-catching, and look and act like an grownup, yet he continues to be sixteen years previous. i'm no longer asserting which you will no longer have a dating with him in some unspecified time interior the destiny, yet i do no longer think of you prefer to probability breaking his heart, extraordinarily on a similar time as the two one in all you're sharing a hire -- so my suggestion could be to circulate sluggish.

They just want you to have a career...being a DJ is not a career, it's a weekend gig...and you can't really support yourself by being just a DJ. Set you goals a little higher, that's all they're asking.

they are wrong.

I graduated from a top broadcasting college at 30 years of age. I wasted my life doing what *mother* and everyone else wanted. altho well-meaning, its my life to live, and now im disabled at 40 and only won 1 award for best on-air talent. This proved to me that i was right about my plans all along. Now I'm too sick to ever work again. So what little time i could have had to persue my dream was wasted on what everyone else said i should do.

please, dont make the mistake i did. Follow your heart. Life is too short for regret and misery

They are right in their own way. Maybe they just hope that you don't make it a full-time career considering that not every Dj becomes very successful. But, that doesn't mean you shouldn't make it a hobby or practise it for fun. Just continue your education as well as do this on the side (who knows, you might actually get far one day!)...

Goodluck! =P

well when i first started playing guitar my mom was very unsupportive about the whole idea, and said it was a complete waste of time, but after two years she's slacking up, and now my band is getting small gigs, She still don't compleatly like the whole idea, but she relized it keep me from doing a whole lot of other things i could have been doing... AKA just go with what you want to and hopefully adventually when they see you made something out of it then they will accept it a little bit better,
Wow that was to long........
