for peace you need both antagonists to agree to peace, to keep war going you ask one side to give up something you know their not going to give up.
I keep hearing our politians say Hezbolah must disarm, is that the demand the politians know they won't do?

the same as asking the IRA to disarm. you have to give something to receive something. in business and politics they usually attempt to give something of little value to them, to get something back. it's about finding out what people want and attamting to meet them halfway, especially when their rights are being forgotten.

When they've squeezed everything out of the situation and realise they've come to the end of the road they might disarm... in 30 years they'll be "respectable" and the kidnappings and murders and land grabbing will be forgotten (a la IRA)
