And if so, what is a good replacement for one used for a busy mom, not someone using it for business? Do I go to one of the phones with an organizer? IT MUST SYNC WITH YAHOO CALENDARS

It all depends what you intend to use your unit with. The exciting thing about a smartphone is the ability to combine your cell phone with all the features of a PDA (e.g. calendar, contacts, alarms, et cetera). One of the downside of using a smartphone is that the screens on smartphones are still smaller than I would like, and, if you care about WiFi connectivity at hotspots, many don't offer built-in WiFi.

If you don't care much about the phone aspect, but care about a great PDA with built-in WiFi for connectivity to the Internet and e-mail at hotspots, Bluetooth, gorgeous large screen, and a lot of capacity (4 GB hard drive), I would highly recommend the Palm LifeDrive. If you don't care much about storage space, I would look at the Palm Tx, and if you really want a built-in keyboard, I would recommend getting the older, yet very powerful Palm Tungsten C. You can't find the Tungsten C in stores, so try eBay. It is one of my favorite units, although I recently upgraded to the LifeDrive.

If you do decided to go with a smartphone, I would recommend a unit with the Palm operating system (os), or alternatively Mobile Windows.

I cal my Palm Z22 "my brain"! I can't function very well without it. It reminds me of appointments and even TV shows I don't want to miss. I can even use it as an alarm clock, and it tells me what time it is anywhere in the world. I can keep track of everyone I know, and store my pictures in it. It's so durable, I once dropped it in a glass of water, and after some drying out, it works fine! I even threw it at my husband once when I was mad at him, and it hit a wall before landing on the floor, and it still works great! It syncs with my computer, and I can play games on it when I'm bored.

I would not be with out my Palm TX, I don't like them with phones, If I loan out one then I am without other. Same thing if one breaks, plus I use my Palm a lot, so the battery life would not be sufficient.

I think I can get it to sync with Yahoo calendars.

You see more and more people carrying them around because you can get so many diffrent kinds, and they fit just about anywhere you want to stick them (like a purse or pocket). Just recently i bought a new one myself from dell. most of the major manufacturers will let you customise your order and add the things you desire on to your pda, or pocket pc.
