Practice...like anything else. Acting hard won't make you hard. You have to become thick. It is a way of life. If you let people into your life then they will have some control over your emotions. I am not saying that seclusion cures pain, but other people will cause you both joy and pain. You will never hurt yourself by yourself. I believe that you feel nothing if there is nothing to miss. If you miss something or someone because they have affected you in some way then you can kiss your thick skin good bye...cool.

Some people are born hating everything and everyone. They already have a thick skin.
If this is not you, preform the following:
Hang out with people that hate you. Find the meanest people around and then hang out. Let them make fun of you. Ridicule you. Tease you. Tell you they hate you and you are worthless.
Eventually you will learn to stop listening. This is a condition known as a thick skin.
Becoming sarcastic helps too.
Good luck.

Sometimes it's ok to get your heart broke. You learn not to let the next person do the same crappy things to you. Sometimes it's good to date a real jerk because then you learn a lot of things not to let someone do to you. Don't be afraid of getting hurt. Have no regrets.

Use a cheese grater on skin for 30 minutes. Let heal. Repeat as necessary.

Remember the two rules of life:
1. Don't sweat the small stuff
2. It's all small stuff.

be confident in yourself. by setting a definative set of morals, ethics, and guidelines that you adhere to in every choice or decision, and then every criticism someone has of you is not a rip on you, but a problem that they have with themselves.

Look inside yourself and know who you are.
I recommend doing yoga to get there,
so other people's random opinions aren't so important to you
you have to have confidence in yourself.
do yoga.
