What do you think about using vigilante groups to take care of?

pedophiles? Something needs to be done. There's too many of them around and the justice system doesn't always take care of them. They make me sick and I can tell that there are a lot of them lurking around on this site.

I didn't necesarily mean kill them.

I'm not advocating anything. I am only curious what the consensus is.

The Internet has the anonymity they want, and the huge audience they need. If every one of us is vigilant and reports them to the authorities including the website they are lurking on, then they will move on to greener pastures. They already know they are sick and hated. That is part of the allure. I personally think that they are the undoing of our society. Anyone that preys on children for sexual gratification does not deserve to live. Count me in

If you don't mean to kill them, then what do you mean? To just keep them locked up in someone's private basement. Do you mean to give them a fair trial in front of a jury of their peers? I mean, you want to make sure the person caught is ACTUALLY guilty, don't you?

Or do you expect only guilty pedophiles will volountarily turn themselves in to vigilantes? How do you know which of those on this site are pedophiles.

How do the vigilantes spot them. Can someone just come up to the vigilante and point one out to them. What if I were to report you to Yahoo Answers as a pedophile? Does a vigilante group show up at your front door with a noose and a pair of hand cuffs?

I'm not making fun of you or trying to belittle your question. What I hope to do by this response is illustrate how difficult the job is, and STILL protect the innocent. If an organization as large as a police department has a difficult time of it, imagine the problems of allowing random groups of amatures to take care of the ugly business.

Review the history of the Russian Pogroms, the German Krystalnacht, and the US West coast's Yellow Peril scare. Not to mention the deep South's white hooded lynch mobs. Read up on the Zoot Suit riots of San Diego I think if you saw a torch carrying mob approaching up your street, YOU'D be hiding behind closed windows and locked doors.

I am not defending pedophiles. But before you resort to vigilantism, you need to make sure the "defendant" really is one.

Mr. X kissed every one of his three babies on their little behinds at one point in their infant lives. Does this make him a pedophile? Yet, if Mr. X was involved in a nasty divorce and his wife, in spite, threw this fact out before a judge and jury in a criminal case for deviant sexual assault, someone might draw a stupidly wrong conclusion. In other words, people lie. I was on a jury where this exact fact scenario was part of the evidence.

Let's leave law enforcement to the experts.

i will be the first in line to offer my assistance!! even since i saw the movie The Boondock Saints i have been in 110% of the agreeance of the vigilantes!! if more people started becoming vigilantes there would be a lot less crime in this country because people would be afraid to commit crimes because you would never know who walking down the street is a vigilante. and another movie that is about a father who took care of his daughters molesters is A Time To Kill. if you haven't seen either movie and you support vigilantes or have ever thought about doing it yourself see these movies you will not be disappointed!!

I think it's good in theory, but in reality. Whether it's perfect or not, that's what the justice system is for. Society would be in total choas if people were allowed to run around taking the law into their own hands. It's unfortunate, but you have to let to courts and police take care of the problem.

Of course, you feel comfortable eliminating due process and access to the courts because you can guarantee that the vigilante groups will never make a mistake, and never punish someone who didn't actually do anything wrong.

I think pedophiles, killers, and violent offenders should stay in prison. And yes vigilantes should kick thir asses just for their crimes. Did you hear about the pedophile that couldnt go to prison because he was too short.

I guess that would be okay - as long as they follow an established set of operations

i dont think we should kill them just lock them up in a prison for the rest of their lives and let em get raped every day by the biggest john holmes mother ****er in there. but killing ems fine... ill go get the shovel..
