Unfortunately Tripod doesn't allow files other than .htm and .html so the best option is going to be a basic JAVA application which Tripod will allow. It's not the most secure. It's a basic validation script that can be found at javascript.internet.com

Most free sites will not allow you to add password protected area. You are best to look for a cheap hosting site if you need password protection On a site
