Firmament in this passage means the space or expanse above us, not something that is solid.

Evolution is not a proven fact. I didn't see a link for that one under your question. I can concede that you have more education than me, And could probably show me something new. But at the end of the day it is not 100%.
Creative design is just as plausible. I can't remember the era but the majority of life on this planet first appeared around the same time. Whether it be God or aliens, Intelligent design is a legitimate theory.
Both theories are not proven and are likely to be true. The common factor in both is faith.
Oh, and I don't remember the bible ever saying that heaven is in the upper hemisphere.

The majority ( oddly enough ) is correct in distrusting adequately unproven theories. Evolution isn't irreconcilable with a belief in a Creator, the excuse that some holy book is responsible for this is weak, and a real drag.
If you advocate a healthy dose of doubt and the spirit of open inquiry in furthering the sciences then i say that it applies to the acceptance of it's theories as well huh?.
Why on earth should the theory of evolution be shoved down anyone's throat?
There is a word for that...........it's called indoctrinization
i'm not a christian BTW.

Because people pick their own truths and then look for only the evidence that supports that. We all do this and that's why the Bible is very dangerous. Don't get me wrong, I'm religious. I was born and raise Catholic. But, I don't think that most religious people know a lick about their faith and it's quite sad.
To quote William Shakespeare in "Merchant of Venice":
"Even the devil can quote Scripture for his purpose."

In the U.S. a vast majority of people have been several miles off of the ground in airplanes, proving that the heavens are not solid. No one in the U.S., however, has lived the prerequisite several million years required to observe that evolution occurs.

Because metaphors are easy to take literally when they support your hypothesis/teachings/brainwashing, but easily reverted back to metaphors when convenient to your other view points, (or when your brain hurts from actually putting forth tangible thought).
Hey, one good stab deserves another.
Equivalent target or otherwise.

Why should i believe in evolution...Darwin said we all came from e.g. monkies, if we are, then how come there's still monkies around. They should have evolved too. The latter it's metaphor
