Erich Hartmann who flew for Germany during WW II he recorded 352 kills from October 1942 to May 1945. He then was captured by American troops and at the end of the European conflict was handed over to Russia where he was a POW for 10 years.

But of course the most famous pilot of all time was the Red Barron who flew for Germany during WWI and had 80 kills before he died of a rifle shot to the chest delivered by Australian foot soldiers.
