A convex mirror has the shiny side bulging outward. One common use is your car's side rear-view mirror. In such a mirror, objects appear to be smaller and farther away than they really are.
A concave mirror has the shiny side bulging inward. It is used in shaving mirrors where your face is magnified. A concave mirror can be used like a magnifying glass to concentrate sunlight to a small point. It therefore is also used in solar cookers, furnaces etc. If you take objects far from a concave mirror (farther than its focal length), the image will appear inverted

If you have a point of origin and going left a mirror and then a source of light. With the convex mirror the surface will go toward the light source from it's side to the center; and the concave mirror will do the opposite it will go closer to the origin. It both cases they will be symetrical around the axis in the center of the mirror and perpendicular to it. I don't know any use of a convex mirror. The most important concave mirror is the parabolic one (the surface is a parabola turning around the center axis), used in visible light telescopes and invented by Isaac Newton. With this design, the whole light coming into the telescope is concentrated at a single focal point so the light is «amplified».
In photo lenses there is some combination of convex and concave lenses to achieve the desired effect.

Concave is bulging inward, Convex outward.
Convex mirrors are commonly used in retail stores and hospitals so people can see around corners. They are also used in magnifying glasses.
The only thing i've seen a concave mirror in is the little ones women use to put on makeup, pluck, etc.

Concave means dished inward and they tend to concentrate light toward a specific point. Convex means bowed outward and they use them for the little extra mirrors on your sideviews and for shop-lifting security mirrors, amopng other things.

concave is where it dips inward--it helps you see close ups more clearly--like for examining your face/skin.
convex mirrors bulge outward, and help you see around corners or in a wide angle.
