as stated above all you need to do is give a month notice before the next period so for say you can still give month notice today but you will be liable for rent until the end of Aug , also depends on the condition of the unit when you leave if you will get your SD back

Good question. Give written notice that your tenancy will end at the end of next month. But then, and this is very important, DON'T PAY AUGUST RENT. Just don't pay it. They can't really get you out any quicker than the end of August and you don't have to worry about the fact that they have your money. It's easier to keep your money now than to get it back later.

If it is month to month, you are not breaking it. You give notice for the first of the month.
