there is no way to lose weight from a particular spot on your body, there is not spot reducing exercise. the best way to get rid of you "middle" is to follow a three pronged approach: cardio, weight training and watching your calorie/carb intake. the best cardio is interval cardio/interval training. if you can run - running will reduce your body fat the fastest of all your cardio options. if you are just starting out, try the elliptical - it's fun and not as strenuous as running. weight training is ESSENTIAL! without building muscle you will never get a lower body fat count. muscle is so important because it burns fat! for us girls, there is no way you will bulk up so don't worry - you won't look like a body builder - those girls are pros and consume all sorts of protein/supplements. pay special attention to squats, lunges, push-ups, pullbacks, crunches, etc. investing in a ball for balance and strength training is well worth it. try to keep your calories between 1500 to 1800 a day with 40/40/20 ration of protein, carbs, and fat. i would consult a certified a personal trainer and nutritionist in your area, preferably one in private practice not at your local gym, unless you belong to a specialized gym. i can go on and on so good luck!!!!

I'm working on the same thing right now. So far aqua aerobics and pilates have worked the best for me. Aqua aerobics is great because it's easy on the joints, but you can make it as intense a workout as you want. It's not just for the elderly! I just started the pilates and already feel it working. It takes a lot of work, but it's worth it. Also, I agree with the person who said stay away from starches. I've been told they tend to thicken the middle. Good luck!

cardio 3-5 times a week for 30-50 minutes. anything that gets your heartrate up there. walking, jogging, skating, biking, hiking, dancing, jumping rope, etc. mix it up with some pilates and a healthy diet and i swear you'll lose the tummy fat. just give it time :) good luck!

Stomach crunches. Lie flat on your back, clasp your hands behind your head and keeping your legs flat, pull yourself up as far as you can toward your toes. Hold for fifteen seconds and repeat as many times as you can.
