So many favourite bands but favourite lyrics is this one:
"Dust in Wind" by Kansas
I close my eyes, only for a moment, and the moment's gone
All my dreams, pass before my eyes, a curiosity
Dust in the wind, all they are is dust in the wind.
Same old song, just a drop of water in an endless sea
All we do, crumbles to the ground, though we refuse to see
Dust in the wind, all we are is dust in the wind
[Now] Don't hang on, nothing lasts forever but the earth and sky
It slips away, and all your money won't another minute buy.
Dust in the wind, all we are is dust in the wind
Dust in the wind, everything is dust in the wind.

My all time favorite lyrics come from Greendays "Time of your life"
Another turning point, a fork stuck in the road.
Time grabs you by the wrist, directs you where to go.
So make the best of this test, and don't ask why.
It's not a question, but a lesson learned in time.
It's something unpredictable, but in the end is right.
I hope you had the time of your life.
So take the photographs, and still frames in your mind.
Hang it on a shelf of good health and good time.
Tattoos of memories and dead skin on trial.
For what it's worth, it was worth all the while.
I hope you had the time of your life.
I hope you had the time of your life

Not band (any more) but favourite singer is Rob Thomas, and my favorite lyrics are from his song Ever the Same (which we played at our wedding):
We were drawn from the weeds
We were brave like soldiers
Falling down under the pale moonlight
You were holding to me
Like a someone broken
And I couldn't tell you but I'm telling you now
Just let me hold you while you're falling apart
Just let me hold you and we'll both fall down
Fall on me
Tell me everything you want me to be
Forever with you forever in me
Ever the same
We would stand in the wind
We were free like water
Flowing down
Under the warmth of the sun
Now it's cold and we're scared
And we've both been shaken
Hey, look at us
Man, this doesn't need to be the end
Just let me hold you while you're falling apart
Just let me hold you and we'll both fall down
Fall on me tell me everything you want me to be
Forever with you
Forever in me
Ever the same
Call on me
I'll be there for you and you'll be there for me
Forever it's you
Forever in me
Ever the same
You may need me there
To carry all your weight
But you're no burden I assure
You tide me over
With a warmth I'll not forget
But I can only give you love
Fall on me tell me everything you want me to be
Forever with you
Forever in me
Ever the same
Call on me
I'll be there for you and you'll be there for me
Forever it's you
Forever in me
Ever the same
Forever with you
Forever in me
Ever the same(Ever the same)

Beware, there shall be plenty of Anberlin under. Favorite lyrics (from The Feel Good Drag -- Anberlin): "You have been my finest mistake I fell in love along with your sin Your littlest sin Was this over earlier than Before it ever started Your kiss Your calls Your crutch Like the devils received your hand This was once over earlier than Before it ever started Your lips Your lies Your lust Like the devils to your palms" Least favourite lyrics (from There Is A Light That Never Goes Out -- Anberlin): "And if a double-decker bus If it crashes into us To die by means of your part Is the sort of heavenly solution to die Ten-ton truck Kills the either one of us To die by means of your part Well, the satisfaction - the privilege is mine" Choosing the least favourite was once so rough. Technically that music is a canopy, however they are particularly very creepy lyrics, that's what made me select them. BQ: (*Fin) -- Anberlin BQ2: Never Take Friendship Personal -- Anberlin

Pink Floyd: Long you'll live and high you'll fly, but only if you ride the tide, balanced on the biggest wave, to race toward an early grave.
Really doesn't make sense because it says 'long you'll live' and then says 'early grave' unless I'm getting the words wrong. I still like it.

Ooooohhhh..
Tough one......
My favorite lyric in a song (right now) would have to be:
"And I will dine on honeydew
And drink the milk of paradise"
in the song Xanadu
by the band Rush (one of my favorite bands, I can never decide)
Another of my favorites is "Love, Reign O'er Me" by The Who, not quite my favorite band. Mainly because it is sung with such passion.
Only love
Can make it rain
The way the beach is kissed by the sea.
Only love
Can make it rain
Like the sweat of lovers'
Laying in the fields.
Love, Reign o'er me.
Love, Reign o'er me, reign o'er me, rain on me.
Only love
Can bring the rain
That makes you yearn to the sky.
Only love
Can bring the rain
That falls like tears from on high.
Love, Reign o'er me, reign o'er me, rain on me.
Love, Reign o'er me, reign o'er me, rain on me.
On the dry and dusty road
The nights we spend apart alone
I need to get back home to cool cool rain.
I can't sleep and I lay and I think
The night is hot and black as ink
Oh God, I need a drink of cool cool rain.
Love, Reign o'er me, reign o'er me, over me, over me.
Love, Reign o'er me, over me.
Love!
One of the most powerful, touching songs I know that gives me chills down my spine every time I listen to it is "10,000 Days (Wings Pt. 2)" by Tool, one of my all time favorite bands. It is about how the lead singer's mom, who was a devout Christian, was paralyzed for 27 years (about 10,000 days) and died, and he is hoping her spirit made it to heaven, despite the fact that her son led a non-religious, not quite wholesome life.
Listen to the tales and romanticize,
How we follow the path of the hero.
Boast about the day when the rivers overrun.
How we rise to the height of our halo.
Listen to the tales as we all rationalize
Our way into the arms of the savior,
Feigning all the trials and the tribulations;
None of us have actually been there.
Not like you.
Ignorant fibbers in the congregation
Gather around spewing sympathy,
Spare me.
None of them can even hold a candle up to you.
Blinded by choices, hypocrites won't seek.
But, enough about the collective Judas.
Who could deny you were the one who
illuminated
You'll have a piece of the divine.
And this little light of mine, the gift you passed on to me;
I'll let it shine to guide you safely on your way,
Your way home ...
Oh, what are they going to do when the lights go down
Without you to guide them all to Zion?
What are they going to do when the rivers overrun
Other than tremble incessantly?
High as a wave, but our eyes are upon the ground.
You are the light and the way, they'll only read about.
I only pray, Heaven knows when to lift you out.
Ten thousand days in the fire is long enough, you're going home.
You're the only one who can hold your head up high,
Shake your fists at the gates saying:
"I have come home now!
Fetch me the spirit, the son, and the father.
Tell them their pillar of faith has ascended.
It's time now!
My time now!
Give me my, give me my wings!"
Give me my wings!
You are the light and way, that they will only read about.
Set as I am in my ways and my arrogance,
Burden of proof tossed upon the believers.
You were the witness, my eyes, my evidence,
Judith Marie, unconditional one.
Daylight dims leaving cold fluorescence.
Difficult to see you in this light.
Please forgive this bold suggestion:
Should you see your Maker's face tonight,
Look Him in the eye, look Him in the eye, and tell Him:
I never lived a lie, never took a life, but surely saved one.
Hallelujah, it's time for you to bring me home.
My favorite song lyrics overall would be "Imagine" by John Lennon (not even CLOSE to my favorite band/singer):
Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today...
Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace...
You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one
Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world...
You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one
and I've listened to a LOT of music
