OK, you hear two words a lot: 'kinky' and 'perverted'. Usually the term 'kinky' isn't a bad thing; 'perverted' however is too much. Everyone has their own definitions. What's yours?

Thank you, Ndeily, for finally bringing up the "free and willing participation" aspect. We seem to have lost sight of that in these answers.
Yes, a feather is kinky - if the other party likes it. If the other party is highly ticklish and screaming "NO" -- not so much. I know, I almost choked to death that way once, because I could not breathe, "just in good fun" and it wasn't even about sex!
Let's keep in mind who gets hurt in these "kinky" scenarios, huh. I have some great fantasies and "kinks" myself, but I always clear them first, and make sure I have a "safe" word before we go too deep into things -- if you know what I mean?!

I think that the two are essentially synonyms, although you are right that "perverted" carries a more negative connotation to it.
Perverted usually implies or carries some implication of fetishism along with it - a man who likes to peep in women's windows is a pervert. A man who likes to watch his girlfriend masturbate is kinky.
Along those same lines:
A guy who steals women's shoes to jack off in them is a pervert. A guy who sucks a woman's toes is kinky.
Certainly the line between kinky and pervert has something to do with free and willing participation of both parties involved.

Seriously, darlin, I think that it is all in the perspective of the person you are talkingg to. And look at who you are talkin to...! Personally, I can take most things under consideration, classifying them as 'kinky' (3 way, toys, etc) But, when you cross over into off the wall stuff, that's when I would holler 'perverted'.

Kinky is stretching the experience to new ground. Perverted is rejecting anything normal and just going for the weirdness.

Kinky : Something (sexual) that is different from what you would normal do. I think of stuff like outfits, toys, odd positions when i hear kinky.
Perverted: word that is used toward a person that would say or do something nasty, rude, or that does something that shouldn't be done
makes me think of molesters and porn

kinky = something out of the ordinary.... usually sexy but more erotic.....
perverted= molester/ someone who wants to do something without the consent or liking of the other person
