After you install them, they always load into the system tray when the system is booted, which is time consuming.

Is it the same process for Yahoo! Tool bars?

For Yahoo! Messenger: Open and log on to Yahoo! Messenger. On the messenger window click on "Messenger" then "Preferences". Next click on the "General" section. Make sure to uncheck the feature "When I start up my computer: Automatically start Yahoo! Messenger" then click on "Apply" and "ok".

For MSN messenger: Open and log on to MSN messenger. Click on the file menu (the little arrow thingy), then click on "Tools" and "Options..." Then click on the "General" section again, make sure to uncheck the option "Sign In: Automatically run Windows Live Messenger when I log onto Windows" then click on "Apply" and "ok".

NOTE: When in the general tab of both Instant Messengers, take not that you can disable that little pop-up window from appearing when you log on.

Another thing to get rid of startup objects would be Ccleaner (http://www.ccleaner.com). However, every time you log back into the instant messenger, it would just put it back into your startup registry.

Hope it helps!

For MSN Messenger, open MSN Messenger, go to Tools > Options > General. This option should be the first checkbox at the top.

For Yahoo Messenger, open Yahoo Messenger, go to Messenger > Preferences > General. Uncheck Automatically start Yahoo Messenger.

Run the msconfig utility. Go to Start, then Run and type in: msconfig
Go to the startup tab
You will see a list of all the programs that are loaded when your computer starts up. Uncheck any that you do not have to have. (Usually you can uncheck them all). If you decide you to need one, you can go back and recheck it.
You should find the startup for both Yahoo and MSN in the list.

It's a setting in your preferences. It needs to be unchecked on both programs. Open them both up and check for something like "load messenger on windows start up"

I'm not sure about the toolbar. That sounds like an internet explorer addon. you'd just have to go to "my computer" and "add/remove programs" and uninstall it.

This will fix all your problems without running any special programs and without having to download anything or do anything too complicated.

For Yahoo Messenger, login with your id and go to Messenger-->Preferences-->General and check off the box which says "Automatically starts Yahoo Messenger"

For MSN, go to Tools-->Options-->General-->Check off box which says "Automatically run MSN Messenger"

Goto start then run then type msconfig. Goto startup tab and take em out.

For toolbars they can be tricky but try thru internet explorer tools then manage addons and get rid of them.

If that doesn't work for either problem get hijackthis and remove them from the list thats gauranteed to get rid of em just be careful with this program

Right click on the icon and then go to options or preferences. There's always an option to run program on startup.
