Because not enough people (like you and I) are willing to speak up. And most people just go with the flow and assume since most people are dressing their children that way, it is ok. Ask you friends, they will agree with you, but they are too passive to do anything about it.

I totally agree with you on this. My friend and I hate it when we're hanging out somewhere and little girls are wearing skimpy clothing. No joke I once saw a girl that was probably 5 years old wearing a mini skirt and halter top with knee high boots. I think it's sickening and that girls need to wait until they're more mature to wear clothing like that.
Sadly the only reason I can see for clothing manufacturer to do this is that it's the new fashion. Women are wearing less and less and when little girls see female celebrities wearing clothing like that they want to also. The people that making clothing understand that so they make that clothing for little girls because they figure it'll sell better than regular clothing. In companies it's more important to sell products than to support morality.
I hope that you were able to gain something from my answer and hopefully in the near future this will be less of a problem.

I am ten and I was looking around and I saw this skirt at old navy and they have a mini skirt that is really short and it doesn't even have shorts under it. They should at least have it as a skort! Maybe they put them short with no shorts underneath it beacuse they think that the younger kids want to dress like teenagers. I dont think that is very age appropriate.

its because when girls dress like that, it is more likely that they will buy more clothes from those stores. try searching in different stores. when i was that age, i bought a lot of my clothes from GAP, which had really cute and age appropriate clothes. also try looking in stores like Talbots kids. stay away from popular teenage stores. they are made for teenagers rather than for 7 year olds. i definatly agree with you though, its a disgrace to see these young girls dressed in such slutty outfits.
good luck

because idiot, no class parents keep buying them and dressing their little bastard kids like those bratz dolls. my cousin got a bratz baby for xmas and the thing had a little leather bootie cut diaper on. and a halter top!
i understand giving little girls the short shorts because they're easy to play and run around in, but the little skirts and middrift tops are a bit much.
i am amazed by parents who are suprised when they're little darling comes home knocked up or gets a VD. maybe if you'd bought normal girl clothes and not slut in training clothes she'd have more self respect.

It's just because of the era. Kids aren't more likely to wear long dresses any more. But if you're looky for modest Old Navy has an amazing fall line.

Probably the same reason why they make super small clothes overall nowadays. Even a large is really small now.
