Just use the system CD to reinstall the XP again. When it asks you to reformat the hard drive, do so.

put in your windows cd and reboot. Your bios should be set to check for cdrom boot first. If not when putting up try pushing delete, f1, f10 keys like that to get to bios and change the boot sequence. The rest you will figure out on your own. If using windows 98 get to the prompt though and run an fdisk first. If 98 select to delete partition and then recreate it. It's added protection that it will get delete as you can't undelete and fdisk and its basically gauranteed to erase everything.

Make sure you have network drivers it REALLY sucks to format then learn windows didn't recognize your network driver and you can't get to the internet to get it.

Well usually when you are reloading Windows, you have the option to completely erase your old files on your hard-drive. Save the files you want to keep and when you reload, format your harddrive.
