I have been sewing Anime costumes for two and a half years now. I have a low end Brother sewing machine, and I am looking for a better one to suit what I make. My price range is under $500. I like the computerized ones that have the stitch memory capability, and I am looking for one that is easy to use and care for.

Go look at sears - I have their 150 stitch computerized machine. It is a workhorse. For the layers of fabric sometimes involved in costuming, you need to give it a test spin to make sure it can go through all the layers - you'll know right away if the machine is right for you...

I've also added some links here....

You may wanna try the NX range of Brother (200, 400, 600).
They are cheaper than the Pfaffs with the same capacity and low-maintenance. They also make the best buttonholes among household sewing machines.

Walmart has the Brother CS 6000 computter for under $200.
50 stitches and buttonhole capability drop in bobbin and self threading..... They have another (more bigger better) but I like this light weight easy use model I had so much fun with it a Halloween time I almost bought a second one just so I'd have it when this one wears out.
