My son just started pee-wee football, and brought his helmet home last night. It's apparently been exposed to some serious moisture (I'm praying rain, not sweat) - and the padding (foam rubber?) is COVERED in mildew.

What is the best way to clean this, safely?

It is almost certainly sweat. Use something that won't be hard on his skin or rinse it real well.

if is sweat, maybe a strong product may help, althought if the helm wasnt that expensive, it would be better to get him a new one or replacement padding if that one can be actually replaced
