for black coffee-blot with detergent solution. if the stain remains, try a vinegar solution. rinse with warm water

for coffee with cream and sugar-blot with a cleaning solvent. if stain remains, try, in this order, a detergent solution, an enzyme detergent solution (especially useful for cream), and a vinegar solution.

detergent solution- mix 1 tsp of mild clear or white neutral detergent (mild dish washing liquid w/out alkali's or bleach) in 1 cup of warm water. don't use laundry detergent which may discolor fibers.

enzyme solution-mix a solution of enzyme laundry detergent by following directions on the package. allow the solution to remain on the stain for the length of time recommended by the manufacturer. Do not use on mohair, wool, or silk.

cleaning solvent-available at most grocery, drug, specialty and hardware stores. use small amounts in a well ventilated area away from open flames. don't use on olefin carpet.

vinegar solution-1/3 cup of white vinegar and 2/3 cup water.

quite easy.

you put the stain area in very warm water. put some vinegar to work as bleech substance. leave it there for a while until the vinegar and warm water seperate the coffee particles on the carpet, which formed the stain.

vinegar is not like bleech. they don't destroy the material..
