Make sure when you start running to not stumble. Use your less dominant leg to start off with and then use your dominant one to propel you faster. Try starting in a track starting position

Run .5 seconds faster... naw seriously couple things, depends on treads and ground. try different shoes, different spikes, if this is for football pick a good lane, I liked lanes that were more dry. Other than that it's leg presses and sprints. .5 is a lot of time on the 40. I once ran the 40 in 4.9 barefoot on wet grass then with the right footwear, dropped it to a 4.2.

That is quite a feat to try. Explosive movements (frog jumps) or drills to improve start. Just a guess.

this is what helped me but i increased it by about .7 seconds with these and also doing squats calf raises and lunges
