Simple....

1. Right click on the file you want to convert.
2. A menu should popup, click Edit
3. A program called Paint will open your picture.
4. Click File
5. Click Save As
6. On the Save As drop down list, choose Jpeg
7. Click OK

If Paint does not open, you can get to it from your Accessories folder (Click Start --> Programs --> Accessories --> Click Paint.

Windows XP does include a program that will let you do that.

Microsoft Paint

Go to Start => Programs => Accessories => Paint

Open the picture and then click File => Save As

On the save as dropdown select JPEG and save.

That's all...

This is possible but I do not believe Windows XP has a program built in that would do it. You would need some sort of program similar to Adobe Photoshop. Their are many freeware programs out there on the net. An example of one can be found here http://www.reasoft.com/rea-bmp-change-jpg.shtml

You need a good image viewer program such as ACDsee or Compupic. Both are available as shareware on the internet. I use ACDsee, myself. I'm sure there are others out there, too. You just open the picture and go to the file menu and "save as" the other format. You can, of course, rename the picture this way, too.

Its much easy with the Microsoft Paint. You may open MS Paint from
"Start > All programs > Accessories> Paint

Or you may use Adobe Photoshop. While there are many other software for that conversion which are ACD See, Irfan VIew, Free Hand etc. you may download freeware from www.softpedia.com or may search by google.com

The easiest way to do this is to use Photoshop to resave the image in jpeg. If you don't have Photoshop, send me the image and I'll convert it for you and send it back to you.

right click the bitmap and select preview and save a copy as a jpeg.
Do not use paint as others are suggesting it will destroy the quality of the image adding blurs and spots
