For me it was when i witnessed an accident. He was laying on the ground and wispered "i cant breathe" as he gasped for air. the ambulance came and said we couldnt go with him.
i felt alive then because i knew i could have been dead. that could have been me. I felt alive because i realized how fragile life really is.

The very moment I knew I was alive was when I went canoeing in the boundary waters between Canada and the United States. My group had just set up camp on an island in the center of one of the bigger lakes. I had just finished setting up the tents, securing our food stores and making sure are canoes were up and out of the water when I climbed to the top of a towering rocky outcrop. As I made it to the top, I looked out over the surrounding water and saw absolute beauty. The wind in my hair, the smell of the water untainted by pollution and garbage. A heavy rainstorm was coming over the lake towards me... and all I could do was feel one thing: Happiness.
For that moment taught me that no matter how bad life gets, no matter how terrible things can be...the world will still turn. Storms will move across land, animals will live, and life will go on. And because of all this...I need to keep moving.

As corny as it sounds, I can't truthfully tell you any different;the moment I first felt alive was when I first fell in love. It was like I saw, heard, and smelled every thing as it happened rather than moments later. It was being in sync with the world at large and another person. The remnants of that, and other memories keep me alive and happy today. By the way, those of you who have someone you love... don't just let it go. If it gets rough, hold on and see if the Waters calm.

Felt alive, as opposed to what? Feeling dead?
If you only imagined you were dead, how can you know that actual death is the same?
Having never felt dead (that I know of) I suppose I have always felt alive, if feeling alive even feels like something. Perhaps you're not talking literally but emotionally? I try to keep my emotions in check.
