There are plenty of people out there that are rich from singing (or rapping), but have NO real talent in the field whatsoever.

Humans r always humans. They always go for looks. Ppl who have some good looks n a lil bit of talent or no talent make it big in the industry. Most of the singers includin Enrique, Britny, Christina, Ashlee they really don't know how to sing. They sound good in Cds - Thanx to the latest studio technolgy. Even if they miss a beat, U can set it right with Time stretch function. If they hit the wrong note that can be corrected usin Antares Auto tune. If they sound really horrible.... they would jus add some distortion n a lil bit of delay n reverb n call it as a masterpiece :) N u guys must b knowin that lotsa singers out there jus lip sync durin concerts. In one Enrique concert they switched of the background music while enrique was singin to show the whole world that he did not lip sync. But unfortunately they even showed the whole world how horrible his voice really sounds.

Appearance. They get that, then they just get good songs from talented songwriters and that's the formula.

However if you are a talented songwriter/performer that will sing your own songs, your songs can take you places, then it's all about talent.

Look at Blues traveler, highly successfull with their music. Do you think anyone would watch them for their appearance? I don't think so but they're still "making it"

EXTREMELY true.
I honestly think its all appearance now adays.
Does Hilary Duff have good music?
NO!
But she has millions of fans because she is "pretty"
same thing with Lindsay Lohan, and alot of "it" girls out there right now.
AND rappers apparently have no idea what their rapping about, all their in it for is the "moo-lah"
And they show it in their appearance.
Some Rock Bands Out There are in it for the "moo-lah" too,
just not sure which ones.
because bands usually do have a passion for music,
they have taken the time to...blah.
I don't feel like explaining >.<

It has to do with neither. It has to do with the big record companies. They hire consultants who tell them who the next big stars are going to be. Then, they dump tons and tons of money into promoting them, and PRESTO, you have an instant star.

I mean, sure Shakira is hot, but there are LOTS of hot women who write their own songs that are not as popular as her. Would Jessica or Ashley Simpson be popular if there wasn't some huge corporation making them popular? Probably not...

the element approximately indie bands is they are on indie labels meaning they'd thoroughly administration what their songs sound like. yet another element is maximum indie rock bands do no longer all sound an identical bands which contain MGMT Vampire Weekend Minus The undergo loss of life Cab For Cutie Modest Mouse Hockey Thats the fascination at the back of the label Indie rock :) haha wish that helped.

I think it was Mick Jagger who said; "Being a star (singer) is 20 percent talent and 80 percent attitude."

definately appearence

if ur a girl and u look hot, they're put someone elses voice on the track just to make u look famous

if ur a guy, they make u look good by having other people featured in ur songs so u don't have to do all of it

Appearance seems to be more important for the highly paid.
