To understand the roots of this conflict, one must go back several years. The country of Lebanon was known as one of the most beautiful nations in the entire Middle East. For years it was considered a moderate nation, especially toward the Jews, in the same manner the nation of Jordan has been toward Israel. Lebanon at one time had a very large Christian population—in fact, one of the largest Christian populations in the Middle East.

When the radical Islamic cleric, the Ayatollah Khomeini, seized power from the Shah of Iran in 1979, the entire atmosphere of the Middle East began changing slowly. Prior to this, most of the Islamic nations were pro-Western, and many Jews lived in them. These countries included Lebanon, Iraq and, believe it or not, Iran. After the formation of Israel, many Jews returned to their homeland from the surrounding Arab and Muslims nation.

The 1979 change in Iran brought about a radical Islamic form of government that began to spread a hatred for the West and for Israel. During this time, Iranian students seized the American Embassy for 444 days, humiliating President Jimmy Carter and the America military, whose attempted rescue operation failed in the desert. This humiliation only provided fuel to the fanatics who felt they had humbled the world’s superpower.

From that moment, Iran began to form strong ties with Russia and China. While these ties were originally tied to the oil and gas industry, it became clear that Russia was supplying Iran with weapons to help bring a “balance of power” to the Middle East.

At the same time, the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) began to use terror tactics to gain media attention to what they considered the plight of the Palestinian people living in refugee camps in Gaza and the West Bank of Israel. Eventually, the PLO became a major terrorist organization, operating out of its headquarters in Syria and Lebanon. At the same time, Iran began to raise up it's own terror units—units that are known today as Hezbollah.

In the Gaza Strip, on the border of Egypt and Israel, the Hamas formed still another group of fanatics who have been involved in terrorizing the Jews for several years.

Because they are mostly Shiite Muslims, the Hezbollah receives its financial support through Iran. Shiites comprise 98 percent of the population of Iran. The Hamas receives its support through Syria, which has a stronger Sunni population. Therefore, Syria and Iran have been the leading supporters of terrorism inside Israel.

Those caught in the middle are the average Palestinian people. Although they often work hard on the farms, and even work inside Israel, they are threatened by Hamas if they co-operate with Israel in any manner. Many have said that they hated the corruption of the PLO and the elected Hamas, a party that claimed they would “clean up things.” Instead, Hamas has only brought more trouble by their actions.

In Lebanon, the Sunni Muslim Lebanese Army will not confront the Hezbollah because they are not strong enough. If they did, the Hezbollah would turn on the army and a civil war would ensue.

The Destruction of Damascus

The Bible has predicted the utter destruction of Damascus (Syria) as a city, saying that it will be in ruins (Isaiah 17:1, 2). Although ignored by the American Press, the news is now known that most of Saddam’s weapons went to Syria before the war. It has been suggested that there are over 10,000 terrorists in Damascus.

If these terrorists get VX nerve gas or some other deadly agent, and send it into Israel in missiles, causing massive deaths, be assured that Israel will strike Damascus with a weapon that would wipe out the city.

The Jewish were slaughtered like cattle in the gas chambers of Nazi Germany over 60 years ago; Israel’s military leaders will not allow their people to be killed by deadly gas again!

As for Iran ( Persia), they will, in the future, plan an attack against Israel, along with a large Islamic coalition of nations (Ezekiel 38, 39). Called the Battle of Gog and Magog, this will be the biggest and most deadly battle in Israel’s history. The Upper Golan Heights ( Bashan) will become so polluted that men will not enter the area for seven months. Yet, Israel will come out of the battle having destroyed all but a sixth of the enemies’ armies.

Iran and Syria need to know that the Almighty has already determined their final outcome. Your doom is sealed when you come against the nation of Israel. Radical Muslims and Arabs living inside Israel must realize that God, not man, has sent and is sending the Jews back to their homeland. After all of these years, they are not going to leave, be pushed out or destroyed. They are there to stay.

The best solution is for Arabs and Jews to learn to get along and work together as good cousins should. Remember, no one is born to hate. Hate is taught and inbred. We are praying for God to miraculously intervene at this time. Many good Christians and moderate Muslims live in Lebanon. We hate for innocent people to lose their homes, their possessions and their children.

Until the terrorists are disarmed or removed from power, however, Israel will have to deal with them with an iron fist. Hopefully, some stability will resume. However, the predictions and prophecies concerning Gaza and Damascus will one day be fulfilled. This may come sooner than we think!

I envision a colossal fireball engulfing the towns adopted through a conflict-triggered iciness of hunger and the moment coming of Christ. They say Nostradamus has a tight forecasting list, even though, too.

Matthew 24:6-8, Matthew 24:29-31, and Mark 13:24-27 PRIOR TO and AT the Sixth SEAL -

The world is presently at Matthew 24:6-8 (below). Immediately after the tribulation of these days that we are presently witnessing, the world will face the Sixth SEAL (Matt.24:29-32, Mk.13:24-27, Re.6:12-17 below)

Matthew 24:6-8

Matt.24:6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all [these things] must come to pass, but the end is not yet.

Matt.24:7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.

Matt.24:8 All these [are] the beginning of sorrows.

Matthew 24:29-31

Matt.24:29IMMEDIATELY AFTER the tribulation of those days (Matt.24:6-8 above, Lk.21:9, Mk.13:7) shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken (Re.6:12-13 below, Lk.21:25, Isa.13:10):

Matt.24:30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory (Mk.13:26, Re.6:16 below, Lk.21:27).

Matt.24:31 And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of HEAVEN to the other (Mk.13:27 below).

Mark 13:24-27

Mk.13:24 But in those days, AFTER THAT TRIBUTION (Matt.24:6-8, Matt.24:29 above), the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light,

Mk.13:25 And the stars of heaven shall fall, and the powers that are in heaven shall be shaken.

Mk.13:26 And then shall they see the Son of man coming in the clouds with great power and glory (Matt.24:30 above, Re.6:16 below).

Mk.13:27 And then shall he send his angels, and shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from the uttermost part of the earth to the uttermost part of heaven (Matt.24:31 above).

The Sixth Seal

Re.6:12And I beheld when he had opened the SIXTH SEAL, and, lo, there was a GREAT EARTHQUAKE; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood (Matt.24:29 above, Acts.2:20, Joel 2:31);

Re.6:13And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth (Matt.24:29 above), even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind.

Re.6:14And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and EVERY MOUNTAIN (Ps.104:6) AND ISLAND WERE MOVED OUT OF THEIR PLACES (Isa.2:19).

Re.6:15And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains (Isa.2:19, Isa.13:7-8);

Re.6:16And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of HIM THAT SITTETH ON THE THRONE (Lk.21:27, Isa.2:19), and from the wrath of the Lamb (Re.6:17 below):

Re.6:17For the great day of his wrath is come (Re.6:16 above, Joel 2:31, Jer.30:7); and who shall be able to stand (Lk.21:36)?

The two major nations involved are actually related to one another.
The Arabs are descendants of Abraham by his son, Ishmael, by his wife Sarah's handmaiden, Hagar.
And the Jews are the descendants of Abraham's son. Isaac, by his wife Sarah.
When these nations were still just two individuals, Ishmael and Isaac, there were problems.
First, since Hagar conceived first, she became proud, since she could bear a child and Sarah, Abraham's wife was barren. This distressed Sarah so much that she drove her out. Fearing she would perish in the desert, Hagar heard a message from God, promising her blessing on her son, and instructions to return to Sarah's household.
This is first prophecy, and this one is of Ishmael, Hagars son, before he was born.
* * * * *
Genesis 16:11-16
The angel of the LORD said to her further,
"Behold, you are with child,
and you shall bear a son;
and you shall call his name Ishmael (note: this name literally means 'God hears')
Because the LORD has given heed to your affliction.
And he will be a wild *** of a man,
His hand will be against everyone,
And everyone's hand will be against him;
And he will live to the east of all his brothers."
Then she called the name of the LORD who spoke to her"Thous art a God who sees"; for she said, "Have I even remained alive here after seeing Him?"
Therefore the well was called Beer-lahai-roi; behold it is between Kadesh and Bezed.
So Hagar bore Abram a son; and Abram called the name of his son, whom Hagar bore, Ishmael.
And Abram was eighty-six years old when Hagar bore Ishmael to him.
* * * * *
So it appears that these two brothers, Ishmael and Isaac, were at enmity even before they were both born, that the predictions and prophecies about their lives, and subsequently the lives of their descendants, were such that they would co-exist in the same regions of the earth, but be at odds in all their relationships.
Then in Genesis chapter 17, God confirms his covenant with Abram, changes his name to Abraham, and promises him a son by Sarah, that will be the father of a great nation. His covenant will be with Isaac and his descendants, but his blessing will also be on Ishmael and his descendants.

* * *
Now when Abram was ninety-nine years old, the LORD appeared to Abram and said to him,
"I am God Almighty;
Walk before Me and be blameless.
And I will establish My covenant between Me and you,
And I will multiply you exceedingly."
And Abram fell on his face, and God talked with him, saying,
"As for Me, behold My covenant is with you,
And you shall be the father of a multitude of nations.
No longer shall your name be called Abram, (Literally 'father')
But your name shall be Abraham; (literally "father of a multitude")
For I will make you the father of a multitude of nations.
And I will make you exceedingly fruitful, and I will make nations of you, and kings shall come forth from you.
And I will establish My covenant between Me and you and your descendants after you throughout their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be God to you and to your descendants after you.
And I will give to you and to your descendants after you, the land of your sojournings, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession; and I will be their God."
God said futher to Abraham, "Now for you, you shall keep My covenant, you and your descendants after you throughout their generations.
This is My covenant which you shall keep, between Me and you and your
descendants after every male among you shall be circumcised.
And you shall be circumcised in the flesh of your foreskin; and it shall be the sign of the covenant between Me and you.
And every male among you who is eight days old shall be circumcised throughout your generations, a servant who is born in the house or who is bought with money from any foreigner, who is not of your descendants.
A servant who is born in your house or who is bought with your money shall surely be circumcised; thus shall My covenant be in your flesh for an everlasting covenant.
But an uncircumcised male who is not circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin, that person shall be cut off from his people; he has broken My covenant."
Then God said to Abraham, "As for Sarai your wife, you shall not call her name Sarai, but Sarah shall be her name.
And I will bless her, and indeed I will give you a son by her. Then I will bless her, and she shall be a mother of nations; kings of peoples shall come from her."
Then Abraham fell on his face and laughed, and said in his heart, "Will a child be born to a man one hundred years old? And will Sarah, who is ninety years old, bear a child?"
And Abraham said to God, "Oh that Ishmael might live before Thee!"
But God said, "No, but Sarah your wife shall bear you a son, and you shall call his name Isaac; and I will establish My covenant with him for an everlasting covenant for his descendants after him.
And as for Ishamel, I have heard you; behold, I will bless him, and will make him fruitful, and will multiply him exceedingly. He shall become the father of twelve princes, and I will make him a great nation.
But My covenant I will establish with Isaac, whom Sarah will bear to you at this season next year."
* * * * *
There is more to this early story of the child by the slave girl Hagar, Ishmael, and the child by the free woman Sarah, Isaac.
The Arabs and the Jews both claim these records as true and both claim to be the children of their father Abraham.
So actually, what we are witnessing in the Middle East, is the destruction of two brothers to each other. The one brother, the one of the bond woman, has always been at enemity with the son of the free woman. The Arab has always been at odds with the Israelite.
The Israelite claim to the land they now live on is ancient. Who else of the nations of the earth has a "deed" granted to them by God Himself?
That is why, for them to bargain to give away even one square foot of it, is so difficult for many of them, especially those who study and refer back to these original promises to Abraham. And if they actually went by the old borders, included in this promise, Israel would be expanding their territory now, not retreating from the West Bank and Gaza.
So this current dispute is actually almost 4,000 years old, and seems destined to go on for quite some time, until two brothers have had enough of killing their own blood kin. Until the Arab brother stops demanding the destruction of his Israeli brother, and until the Israeli brother, finds a path to live on the land of promise, in peace with his Arab brother.
Abraham's DNA is contained in both sides of this conflict!
