How do you keep a morse taper on a drill press from pulling out when using a mortising bit?

Are your mortice chisels sharp? The mortice cut should not bind so much on the chisel that it pulls it out of the taper. A dedicated morticer is better than utilising a drill press if you have a lot to do.

make sure it is free of rust and dirt....give it a light coat of oil and put into drill. tap it lightly with a hammer using a block of wood between the morse and hammer
