With more people living in California than in Canada, and roughly 100 people have died related to the heat, does anyone believe the garbage about bodies piling up?

I mean, does 100 people make a dent of the thousands of people that die everyday from a population of 40,000,000 people?

Yes I do. The temperature in California has been in triple digits. The heat affects elderly and children the most. They have been having power outages which leaves them with no A/C or Fans to cool off with. High temperatures can cause heat exhaustion and dehydration very fast in the elderly and children.
The amount of people dying doesn't make a dent in the population, to put it bluntly, but then you put yourself in the shoes of the people who have lost their loved ones over the heat. It rips your heart out of your chest to lose a loved one. You sound very naive and I hope you can be more compassionate in the future, because when the tables are turned your gonna eat your words.

I think a morgue is built to handle x number of bodies a day based on past experience. So it is VERY likely that if it is simply x + 2 per day then that would quickly cause a backlog.

It is possible with so many deaths in a short amount of time. Do you know how many bodies the morgue can hold at one time? Not many.
