My toilet will not flush properly, I flush, the toilet fills, then empties gladually. " all the way" to the bottom of the tank. I plunged, looked under the "hood", I can't see the problem, everything seems to be working fine. Help!!

There is a really great web-site:

Toiletology.com

This web-site will explain everything, show diagrams, and even help you to change any parts of the toilet which may be defective.

Have a lovely rest of the day.

Take the lid off the tank. Make sure it is full. If so, the when you flush the flapper needs to stay open. If it is open for the entire time the water is draining, then you have a serious pipe leak. My guess is the flapper is coming down too soon.

I had the same problem last month. I replaced the flapper assembly not just the flapper. The gasket under the flapper was deteriorated and water was seeping by in to the bowl. Now you can buy a whole tank assembly cheaper than just the parts to fix it.Just remember to silicone the tank to bowl bolts prior to assembly. They always leak!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

you probably need to invest in a toilet snake, sound like some one may have dropped something into it and then tried to flush it away...tampons and feminine napkins are usually the culprits. toilet snake is less expensive that a plumbers snake and is only long enough to snake out the toilet.

Sounds to me that you have a leak somewhere. The flapper that holds the water in the tank my look fine but isn't sealing well. I had to replace mine in 3 toliets in the house.

If the snakes don't work, hate to say, but you may have to replace the line. My house is pre-Depression and they used clay pipes and 80 years later, the trees got into the lines and we had to replace a pretty good chunk of pipe with PVC.

There's nothing wrong with the tank of your toilet. You have an obstruction in the discharge of your toilet. Youo can try to purchase a snake to use yourself to try and clear it, or call rotorooter type to do it for you.

Your ball flap valve in your tank is bad. With your tank lid off, flush your toilet. You will see the ball flap valve lift and the water drain out.Relace this part with a new one.
