Various reports show male circumcision rates in the US at between 40 and 60%. The rate has fallen continuously over the last 10 years, as people become better educated on the topic, and realize this is an unnecessary operation.

The American Medical Association and the American Paediatric Association have stated that this operation should not be routinely performed on infants. It may be necessary for some medical conditions, but these are extremely rare.
