I think the title was "Song of the Voyager". It was about a French-American family living on the frontier. I don't know the author. Some of characters names were Pierre Marie, Jean Paul, Diane, Nathan.

Go to a library, book store that specializes in older books or do research on the net. Go to www.amazon.com, www.barnesandnoble.com, www.borders.com. That is the only 3 that I can think of right now.
