I find the contestents of miss universe a bit unhealthy and a bit too thin. They look like sex hungry starved kitten like women. I would like to see normal healthy smiling girls may be with some muscles to show they are not obese.

I completely agree with you! I wish woman would stop starving themselves because they think they look good, there is nothing more disgusting than to be talking to someone and seeing there bones. I wish we all as woman would stop listening to tabloids and ignorant men ( I'm not saying all men are ignorant, just the men who want there woman to look like Jessica Simpson.) Real woman don't look lke that we actually have to work and take care of children we don't have time or make up artist's to look like that. I don't want to be anorexic, been there done that and I was miserable and starving all the time, look at what happened to Miss Peurto Rico she fainted because she probably has not eaten a descent meal. You don't have to be anorexic to be happy it's ok to eat as long as you don't go overboard. But unfortuanatly hollywood and some of society make us feel that we have to look like that, don't we woman have to worry about enough? We have to eat healthy to deal with everyday life problems, and not worry if were a 10 pounds over weight.

I have thought about this quite a bit.
For the purposes of sex, guys don't care too much about how women look.
However, for the purposes of looking, thinner women seem more pleasing to the eye. From the perspective of an artist with limited experience, I find the lines on thin naked women more aesthetically pleasing than the lines on obese naked women. Historically, the culturally acceptable limits on "thin" and "obese" fluctuate as time changes.
At the present point in history, thin women are preferable.

I agree it seems they could substitute the word miss stereotype contest . Perhaps they have strict guidelines regarding body mass index or something , if not it seems like that. So that would be my answer .

Because they don't eat!! Didn't you hear about Miss Universe passing out backstage after getting crowned? That wasn't from excitement - that was from needing a sandwich!

i think that the fact that they are skinny makes us want to see them. most women in america are not model thin, and like to look at other people who are(they envy them). think about it, thats why a ton of celebrities are super thin, to keep the "regular people"(a.k.a. normal and healthy people) entertained. if they were normal girls, no one would pay attention, it would a pageant of regular people ( its kind of sad but true)

I guess because they work out and they want to make sure they look good in every segment of the show whether it is the swim suit segment or evening gown segment. They pride themselves on staying fit.
