Angel hair is an alleged substance of unknown origin, said by some to emanate from UFOs after they fly overhead. It is said to disintegrate within a short time of forming and is so named for its similarity to fine hair, or spider's webs. It is comparable to ectoplasm and pixie dust.

There have been many reports of falls of angel hair around the world. The greatest number of reports have come from the U.S.A., western Europe, eastern Australia, and New Zealand.

One of the possible explanations offered by researchers lies in the web making activities of spiders. Some types of spiders are known to migrate through the air, sometimes in large numbers, on cobweb gliders. The threads created by these airborne arachnids is delicate enough that it can dissolve upon handling.

Spider Webs All Over Lawn

I doubt it's fusarium, which required high levels of moisture, which are not typical this time of year, even though your lawn probably has dew in the morning.

The webs (created by spiders) are harmless to you lawn and are probably all over your yard. You just can't see them. You only see the webs on the lawn, because the dew that forms overnight gets trapped on top of the webs and makes them visible. Haven't you also noticed that they 'disappear' mid-day? That is because the dew has evaporated from your lawn and from the surface of the webs. The webs are still there, you just can't see them anymore. It's nothing to be concern about.

It could be a lawn disease called Fusarium Patch. Damage can appear after snow or humid weather at low temps. Small patches of grey waterlogged plants grow to dinner plate size areas. A dark brown rim is usually seen at the outer edges. A greyish white or pink cottony mycilium form over the attacked area when the humidity is high enough. This could be the web you are talking about.
