Our 2 mediterranean spur thighed tortoise were stolen from our garden on 23/6/06.They are 6 -7"long. One is light brown and the other slightly darker and larger. They have worn shells at their tail ends where they used to play bumping each other. I have had them for over thirty years and am devastated to have lost them in this way. I hate to think that they have been split up after all this time together. Each of my two teenage children had been responsible for caring for one of them. PLEASE IF YOU KNOW ANYTHING GET IN TOUCH WE WOULD DESPERATELY LIKE THEM BACK.

I wish you the all the luck finding the turtles. Try talking to the small local papers and see if they will run a small story for you.

i do not know anybody who has suddenly been given or 'brought' these tortoises...
however just a possible tip, maybe try ringing up local rspcas, blue crosses and pet shops in case someone has rung up there or even gone in asking how to care for them...you never know.
Also i believe this is the second case that i know of a pair of tortoises like this going missing, in my area (east anglia) this year, a local small petting zoo had their older pair stolen maybe worth trying to find articles on the web about it and contacting them for advise.
