babysit. Or do deliveries of some sort (newspaper, fliers, chinese food, etc.)
Or you could walk dogs, or petsit.
Or ask your neighbors if there is any work around the house they could pay you to do. I'm sure they could give you a chance on something.
Or learn how to file and answer phones and work part time for some office.
Or go around to garage sales (do they have those in NYC?) and get stuff to ebay online.

Talk to all your friends and family about babysitting. Your parents should give you some kind of an allowance every week. Even my 7 yr old son gets a $5 allowance on Fridays. How else will you learn about money? You could also offer people that come over your house to wash their cars while they're visiting for $5-$10. Or go through all your stuff and have a garage sale. Even just a little bit of stuff will be good money. I'm sure your parents will chip in a few things too. And if you really don't have enough stuff, ask a friend to bring over some things to join too. Sell lemonade and cookies for 25 cents each and that will add a lot to your garage sale money. Good luck! :-)

I am a youth pastor, so I work with kids your age all the time! It depends on what you want the money for...is it for something you want, like an IPOD, or to pay your way to camp or support your family?
The best way to do it is this: call your neighbors, aunts, uncles, grandparents, friend's parents and tell them this: "I am trying to raise money to buy an IPOD. I need $300 more. Is there any work I can do for you for a donation?"
Trust me, if you're doing it to raise money for a good cause like camp, you'll make money really quick. If it's for a personal desire, not so much!
I wish you the best!

Depending on where you live, you could babysit, clean houses or around them on the weekends after school starts, dog sit and/or walk, chores around the house, if your parents work for a small office, you could see about doing some things around there (file, clean, answer phones). Other than that, I don't think you can legally do much. At least until you are 15 and can get a work permit.

ineresting that a 12-year old is a member of Yahoo Answers. When I signed on it told me I had to be 18 years of age!
Anyway, the best way i know to make money is to sell urine.
Not yours, preferably. People don't want to buy YOUR urine. Maybe your brother's or your dog's.
It's an interesting market out there.
Barber shops will buy it. That's what they keep the combs in.

Dont work Dip ****! You are twelve years old. You shouldnt be working. Enjoy your childhood. You should be playing sports with friends, hitting on girls, and troubling you parents. Once Adulthood kicks in, you will remember my words!
