his main source of nutrients should still be formula or breastfeeding. with that in mind, introduce him to different baby foods. i gave her a 'meal' jar, and then a fruit jar for dessert. and vegetables too. for breakfast, i'd mix the baby oatmeal with her formula. just so your baby gets used to the idea of it. usually 2-3 'meals' a day. even tho he doesn't have teeth, you can still give him the 2nd or 3rd foods jars. (gerber has levels)my daughter didn't get teeth til 10mos. those gums are tougher than you'd think.
you can try giving him soft table foods if you happen to be eating them as well. mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes,

Okay, there are many foods that your 7 month old can eat as long as he is sitting up and has been eating infant cereal. What you do is try one food at a time. Pick peas.. give him peas every day for 3 days. If he has no reaction, go on to the next food. Carrots.. feed him peas AND carrots for the next 3 days. If he has a reaction, then you know it was the carrots.. because you already tried peas.. do that until he has had a variety of foods. Don't start with fruit, all babies have a natural sweet tooth, and if you start with fruit it will be hard to get them to eat veggies.
If it does not contain nuts or honey, then your baby can have anything you can eat as long as it is mushed up well.
Peas, carrots, potatoes, green beans, sweet potato, corn.. and any fruit. If it is in mush form, it's okay. You really don't need a list. Just keep in mind that it should be the consistency of apple sauce.
Make sure your baby has enough milk too though. If he gets thirsty after a milk feeding, give him some water.
Good Luck.

When my baby was 7 he was well into solids ( he was a preemie and started rice cereal as early as 3 months to help the reflux he was experiencing. The great thing about today's grocery store baby products is they have the steps and stages sometimes on the packages. Does your peditrician have a nurse's line? Ask them they would know what is best to feed your baby. I would add variety to my little one's hum drum rice at 7 months by adding once or twice daily the first stages gerber strained peaches, peas, or whatever I thought he might like. Introduce him to foods like that one every few days or so to make sure he doesn't have any allergic reactions. When you build up a good listing on your own you will start to recognize what your baby likes. Prepare to howl in laughter at the funny faces you get from different food introductions. (My son had a face like you just fed him rotten lemons when he didn't like something) Gerber stages really helped me. For the more natural food mommy, they have great all natural baby foods at organic food stores. And to go further, if you have a really good food processor, try boiling fresh baby peas ( no salt or additive.. trust me babies don't know or care about kickin' there food up a notch!) cooked to the package recommendations and blend them until creamy. My son liked that with a little apple juice mixed in. My son today is a very healthy boy... slim, trim and atheletic. Remember, trust your instincts, along with advice from a qualified professional. Your going to do great!

My son refused baby food after 5 1/2 months. By 6 months he had all his front teeth so he ate whatever I ate just in bite size pieces and fed himself.
For breakfast he ate fresh fruit and and dry cereal
Lunch was normally meat, veggies, noodles or sandwich
Dinner. Same as Lunch and fruit for dessert.
He was down to maybe 3-4 bottles a day. I when he first woke up, Mid afternoon and bedtime.
He was a very heatlhy baby, tall and solid

Well now is the time to introduce juice always do half and half. In the morning you could try some cereal mixed with like banannas or fruit. Then try like a veggie for lunch start with like squash or carrots. Then for supper you could do like sweet potato followed by another type of fruit or custart. Use the 1st and 2nd foods they tell you on the jar what age group it is for.
The best atarted ones are the simple one like peas, sweet potatoes, squash, banannas, applesauce, don't start with the ones that have two flavors in them. My twins started on all of these and loved them. When you do cereal in the morning make sure it isn't to think or they will choke you can mix it with just juice my kids liked that the best.
Good Luck.

Gerber's 1st or 2nd foods...also, you can cook like veggies or fruits, and puree them if you wanna save the money. My son who i s14 months now always liked the rice cereal with like smashed bananas in it as well....
if you haven't already definately try to spoon feed...it's good at this stage. also, give him some cheerios, one or two at first, see what he does with them...if he's developed enough to keep them in his mouth till they get soggy...kids LOVE cheerios. :) Best wishes...I know with the first it can be hard to know what they can and can't do!

i have twin 5 month olds and i feed them Gerber 2nd foods. i get all different types and mix them with rice cereal. their favorites are banana and grape with applesauce. i even tried the banana, its really good, i have to stop myself from eating it. i even feed them regular Mott's applesauce that you buy at the store. as long as its mushed up you can feed them alot of things.
if you're tryna put weight on him, then mix everything with formula. peas, applesauce, everything.
