The best way to get them out is to use clear nail polish. Put a drop on them near the head and they will back them selfs out because it stops them from being able to breathe. If you use Tweezer you want to be careful not to break the head off. The head will continue to live for DAYS, and the spot will get infected. You can also use a match to get them out. Blow out the Match then place it on the body it should back it self out.

Burning a tick to force it out of the skin does not work very well. Gently removing it with tweezers, being sure you get the head, is a lot more effective. Once it is out you can take a sledge hammer and make it a pancake if it makes you feel better.

Nope. Burning them or pulling them off would get rid of the body but the mouth hooks are still in the skin leaving it to future infection. Dips are a better way to get rid of ticks safely. Ticks on fishs are called lernea or anchor worm. This can be get rid by using Dimilin or dipping a tweezer in potassium permanganate and placing it on the tick to make it release its hook.

I flush them away and I saw someone squeeze one between her nails to kill it - wash your hands well after getting rid of it.

No, using tweezers, you clamp down as far as possible, and you gently and carefully pull them out in one piece. Burning and putting stuff on them just makes them dig in deeper.

You can make them turn loose by dousing them in rubbing alcohol, then use more alcohol to
drown them....or burn them while they have
alcohol on them. They are very hard to kill by smashing them.

coat it with a layer of vaseline or butter, and it will back out of your skin because it can't breathe..so you don't need to tweeze and risk leaving the head behind. then, I flush it.

I just throw them in a bottle of alcohol reserved for this purpose.
