I used to work for a university, so I know this is completely true. You will probably want to call the school that you are interested in. You may be able to find out on the website, but I suggest calling or asking them on your next campus visit. If they don't accept the credits that you are counting on receiving consider taking classes at a local community college during the summer or at night. Some high schools even have a program with the local community college allowing students to receive college and high school credit at a college level class, but in high school. This can be as low as $10 per credit. Usually if you go to a public school in state you will be able to transfer the community college credits. Many of the rules for AP credits will differ from school to school.

I took AP classes in high school and I haven't come across a major state university that hasn't taken AP credit...I think its mainly private schools that sometimes won't accept AP credit...but the best thing to do is to either call, visit, or look on the websites of the college you are interested in.
