Your question is do I think it will be raised and my answer is yes I do. I don't, however, agree with having a minimum wage. I cringe each time we hand over more power to the government. Government in this country was never supposed to be as powerful as it is now and the more power we give it the less freedom we will enjoy. Let's stop the madness now and go back to the constitution.

I doubt that it will raised unless we can at the same time prevent these corporations from off shoring the jobs for cheaper labor. Until we implement deterrence to off shoring, or stop it altogether, minimum wage increases - especially ones as substantial as 7.25 - will harm the country as a whole.

I am most definitely for a minimum wage increase. It is terrible that someone could work 40 hrs a week and still be well below the poverty line. And they also receive so little pay, that they not only don't pay income taxes, but many receive cash subsidies as well. It's insane - If we pay our labor more, theoretically, our taxes for transfer payments could be cut. You either pay them through the market or through the government with a bureaucracy. The market is far more efficient and rational.

If Democrats control congress after teh 2006 elections, minimum wage should be raised. If the republicans control congress, don't count on it. I hope minimum wage is increased. Increasing minimum wage would definetely help the economy. People that work for minimum wage are either teenagers or from very low income classes, and they spend every dime they receive. The middle class and upper class tends to save to money and doesn't invest or keep the money in circulation. Also, getting rid of social security and medicare today would help a lot, and only give the benefits to natural born citizens that were born before 1970. Also a flat tax rate would help as well.

You should know one thing. rasing minimum wage is nothing more that a shift in assets - there is no great spending plan or anything like that.

I think it will be raised because Congress them themselves a raise.

The guy above me is whacked and doesn't know what it was like without a minimum wage here, and he'd like to see those days again. Apparantly so does Ethan.

You can try to roll back the clock but it's counterproductive. AND I HAVE NO SYMPATHY OR RESPECT FOR THE EVIL MEXICAN WHO LOWERS OUR AGE OF CONSENT TO THAT OF MEXICO: 12 YEARS OLD.

YOU PEOPLE ARE JUST EVIL!!!

There should be no minimum wage. The government should not be telling any employer how much he must pay his employees. The free market takes care of that.

Edit
Will one of you brilliant people please show me in the constitution where the federal government has the right to set a minimum wage? I'm "whacked"? What, are you in like 8th grade?

because countless union wages are tied to the minimum salary; they're required to be a particular percentage above the minimum salary. to that end, the union members receives a develop if the minimum salary is raised, and they don't even ought to negotiate for it. it is yet in a special way liberals use "helping the poor and center class" to pay lower back the unions for his or her help.
