I know that i would only have 2 weeks left til my due date, but there is absolutly no way to get comfortable, and im just starting to get frustrated. I have feet in my rib cage, and i have to lean to the side alot just to take some of the pain away.

I ditto Cat's response. Please think carefully about inducing. One in four pregnancies ends in a c-section. A c-section is major surgery. The recovery period is much longer. You miss the joy of pushing your own child out of you and you don't give your body the opportunity to do what it was born to do.

Induction can be worse than what you're experiencing now. They'll give you a hit of pitocin and you'll start having major contractions. Many women opt for an epi to ease the pain. The epi can slow down your contractions and then...off to the OR.

Hang in there...it could be days now.

It is really up to your doctor to induce but if you want you can try some safe home remodies to help you go into labor such as walking a lot.

Seeing as your 38 weeks the baby should be fine, now if you were 35 weeks or under then I would say not to try and induce because the baby can come out with lung problems or something else.

Mine was born the day I hit 35 weeks and his lungs were not fully developed so he was in NICU for 2 weeks.

When it comes to not being able to sleep many woman have it during the last few weeks of pregnancy. I had the problem and it started at about 31 weeks. I would lay in bed and I would be so tired I would feel like I could not even stand and I was going to pass out but even though I layed in bed I just could not seem to fall asleep.

Honey what you are having is very common in pregnant women...maybe your baby is still way to up in your uterus. You can be induced, yes, and the baby will be OK but I wouldn't do it because it is possible the cervix is not mature and the induction may fail and then you will end in a C.- section...and also getting induced is more painful than a natural labor...so I would try to sleep on my side with one leg above the other. And here you have a simple advice..if you feel OK you can try having sex with your husband, this will be good in 2 ways...first: an orgasm will make you feel relaxed and maybe you will be able to sleep good and second the sperm have a substance that helps the labor to start: prostaglandyns..so...go ahead and good luck!!!

I was induced 2 weeks ago and everything went great. However after she was born they somehow figured out that she was only 38 weeks when to our knowledge she was 5 days late. So before you're induced I would get another ultra sound just to be sure you're not really early to avoid complications. My daughters was perfectly healthy and I would like you to have the same result. But my induction went really well I was only in labor 5 hours then I had a beautiful 7 lbs. baby girl. So GOOD LUCK.

Not to repeat what everyone else said, talk to your OB.... Alot of docs will induce you if your pregnancy dates are accurate, no complications, and the baby is head down ready to be born. But on the note of induction, the contractions are stronger and alot longer than if you were to go into natural labor. Induced labor is harder on both you & your baby, and for alot of women longer also. Congrats! and good luck!!

If you think you are in pain now, get your labor induced. I had mine induced 7 weeks ago. That was the worst pain I've ever experienced in my life. It is regular labor pain times 4. Please be patient and start walking as much as possible, if possible. Drink plenty of liquids, especially water, and relax. Let nature take it's course

I'd question any doctor who would induce based on discomfort alone.

If there is danger to the baby, that's a different story.

I'm sorry your miserable, I hope things get better for you or that you find some comfort somehow.

Good luck.

That's up to your OB and I know it's becoming more commonplace, but I don't agree with it. I had large babies (11lbs 10oz and 9lbs 8oz) so I know the discomfort you're feeling. Once the baby drops into delivery position, you MAY get some relief. Just hang in there; it's all sooooo worth it.
