ok, i started a pair yesterday, razor blades seem to work the best, but i've heard of using sandpaper. i dont want just lots of open holes, but some where the strings going across are intact, but not the vertical ones... i dont know if that makes sense. but i've bleached them once now and washed them with lots of faberic softener. i'm going to work on them again tonight but thought i would see if you all could help me out first.
with the razor blades i've cut holes and then run the blade against the "grain" to pull some of the fabric loose. i'm also going to get some black clothing dye to spash around too. any more ideas?

i know you guys probably think i'm nuts. but i'm really not :) and dont worry, i bought my new jeans at rugged wearhouse and only paid $5.99 for them. so honestly if i mess them up too badly, its ok, its not like i'm buying jeans for $39.99 and they already have holes in them :) so far the ideas are great. keep them coming please! cheese grater, bbgun, file, slicing.... check check check...

To make the stringy holes cut through the jeans (with the razor blade) horizontally in 1/4 to 1/2 inch strips. Try to cut with the grain. This will cut the vertical threads and once the jeans are washed a couple of times you'll have only the horizontal threads left.

Also, applying a strong bleach solution to small spots will weaken the material and make natural holes after a few washings. The more you wear them the better they get.

For best results machine dry the jeans between washings.

I have no idea if this will work (never tried it) but cut a small hole in your jeans and try extending the hole using a rough file or something. Should give you a nice "frayed" look.

Just a thought!

If you cut small holes then wash them in a normal cycle you get the strings across them!!

i wouldnt use the black splashes if i were u. it makes jeans look tacky and a lilttle to busy. but rhine stones look good on jeans like ur intials on each pocket in rhine stones or if u rip the pocket and sew in lace or if you just rip the pockets off completly cuz that makes it look cool cuz theres 2 different colors on the back of the jeans
good luck

just leave them the way you bought or got them. i think that getting pants then wanting to destroy them is stupid i mean they wont last as long

I dunno what's worse, destroying your jeans to make them look cool or buying already made that way?? either way, holes and tears and cuts are SUPPOSED to come naturally, not for fashion purposes. but hey, whatever floats your boat
