do celebrities deserve to be rich?

Nope. They get paid way more than they should for easy work. Why aren't our soldiers, firefighters, police, and paramedics getting paid that kind of money? They're the ones who deserve it.

It looks like there are a bunch of haters on here. Yes, celebrities deserve to be rich and its not because they are worth it, its because they create the fantasy that most people need in their lives. You dont complain when you are down and a funny episode of your favorite sitcom makes you laugh.

Or when you get excited about watching your favorite athlete or team do their thing. We create the market that drives the salaries up. You are saying that they dont deserve it but they are rich because of you!

A recent article came out which asked if CEOs of fortune 500 companies deserved to make so much more money than the other company employees. The answer was yes, but not because they did anything spectacular, but because the salary is an incentive for the rest of the company to work harder to try to get to that level. That's what's all about. if you want that kind of money, dont hate, go out and get it.

No. They earn millions and millions a year while WE actualy WORK and make only 1/100 of that. It's not fair. The government is trying so hard to give us poor people more money. Why don't they go after the film industry?

In my opinion, musicians deserve the money they've earned. Bands have to try VERY hard and be VERY talented to go anywhere in the music industry. They should keep the money they earn. But, why did Ray Romano need to get payed $12 mil an episode? He didn't. Sure, he worked hard to get where he was at. But, so did a lot of my teachers. Take my world history teacher, for example. He has a master's degree in history (I don't remember what kind of history). He loved teaching. He loved his job. But, he had to work a night job AND weekend job to support himself. How is that right? Eight years of college is working hard to get where you're at? Shouldn't he deserve a hundred thousand dollars a year? I think so.

Athletes, too. Sure, they should get payed a lot. They have a LOT of talent to make it to the pros. But $15 mil a year? They get payed so much they stop caring about the sport. Look at baseball. I was watching a baseball game one time, because my dad was watching it and the other TV's in the house suck (no digital cable). I noticed that EVERY time a runner thought he was going to get out at first, they slow down. They don't even try to make it. $15 million to slow down because you THINK you're out? I saw at least 3 times, just that game, that the runner could have made it. This is just wrong.

Celebrities in different forms deserve money. If you cure cancer, you deserve the money for your hard work and the many lives you've saved. If you invent something that becomes as popular ad the lightbulb did 150 years ago, you deserve the money for your creativity and the lives you've changed. If you capture Osama Bin Laden, you deserve the money. But, someone that changes their appearance once in a while for a movie and gets payed 10 million dollars to do it? Who cares? Big hairy deal. My friend had to "change his appearance" for his job. He got a job as a bus boy, and they made him cut his hair for his job. He loved his hair. He grew it out for almost two years, and wouldn't have cut it. But, he needed the money. Two years of growing his hair, down the drain. He almost cried. So, while all you want, celebrity babies.

So either donate what you don't need to charity, or I have three words for you:
GO DIE, CELEBRITIES!

While I think that teachers, fireman, and jobs that lend toward the community should get paid much more then they do, celebrities get paid so much because they fulfill our fantasys and the media pumps them up to be God like in that people forget that celebrities are just like everyone else. They loose their privacy and their lives become an open book to the public. I think they are properly compensated for having to not go anywhere without being recognized and all kind of stories being told in the tablots etc.

It's almost like people who win the lottery--financial luck just happens on some people. There are a lot of rich celebrities and sports athletics who I think are very NON-talented, but they thrive nonetheless. Such is life! :) But I don't think it's bad at all for the talented ones have a comfy life.

No. No one should be rich because they have a pretty face. Teachers deserve to be rich, as well as policeman, firefighters, and people who discover cures, and well, generally, it should be the harder you work the more money you make. But society doesn't care about hard work anymore.

I dont have a problem with it. It is like people saying athletes get paid too much to play sports. The way I see it is either they get paid it or the owners get it. The money goes somewhere. The only bad thing about celebrities athletes or actors getting paid a lot is the cost of everything for us to enjoy it goes up.

i think kinda yes is the answer. but not just any celebs. i think musicans like bands deserve it more to be rich than just any actor. not trying to be mean thats just which side im on. i hope to be in a nice band one day. i don't wanna do it for the richness either. i just wanna make music. i am trying to teach myself bass. so there thats my ticket into a band i wanna be in. i just luv music so much!!!☺
