Can they yes?

Will they? Probably not only because the World Cup Winners Club is a very small club. There have only been 7 countries to win the world cup and France is the only new team to join this club since England did it in 1966. So there has only been one "New" winner in the last 10 world cups. Also note that the only two new teams France and England to win the cup in the last 30 years were hosting the cup at the time.

Also take into account that these countries with longer more storied histories in the sport are still looking for thier first world cup:

Netherlands, Spain, Mexico, and Portugal.

Not to mention:

All the other up and coming countries from African and Asia that continue to improve as well.

All the Eastern European teams that have made a final four but never won it.

And ever other country in the world that is trying to improve.

I am sure the USA will win a soccer World Cup in the future, but 20 years, I think it would be too early. Here are some signs to watch before dreaming about a title:

- When 60% of the American squad play in the big European Clubs
- When The USA team wins a gold medal in the Olympics and a Copa America
- When the MLS becomes so competitive that young European players would join hoping it will improve their game.

I firmly believe that (the men's team for) USA won't win a World Cup in the next 20 years. I'd love it if USA did but I find that soccer in USA is hidden and shadowed. It is slowly becoming a sport in that so many Americans think doesn't compare with the physicality of American Football because they are not shown and raised with enough of it around. USA is built so much upon other things that soccer has become something of no interest.

USA will never win the World Cup because theres no concrete support out there, and even if it did reach the ststus of basketball and the NFL. the abilities of other teams elsewhere will still be greater, in fact if anything USA are declining as a team, they had a poor showing at the 2006 World Cup, many players are getting old, theres no real quality youth going through and could struggle to qualify for 2010

Well, I don't think they'll make it in the next 20 years, but they will one day, because Brazill probabaly gonna try to win two more World Cups in the next twenty years and there are other teams that are better than the U.S who have not won yet so they'll be after Brazil, or Brazil could just win all the World Cups in the next 20 years which is only 5 more, but I doubt it.

No because the USA soccer is not as good as european soccer or south American soccer. The soccer was invented in Europe(England) and that's why we are the kings. Maybe if the team of USA gets a good coach will make a good impresion at world cup.It seems that the coach of Germany will traine USA. GOOD LUCK USA!!!!!!
