DO NOT DO THIS!! Monkeys are exotic animals. Most people do NOT have ANY CLUE how to properly take care of them. Most monkeys are mischievous and troublesome: they take things, they run around, they can be hard to catch, they will break or destroy things.
They wear diapers because they are nearly impossible to house train. They also live a very long time. So, if you want a baby in diapers for 20 or 30 years, go ahead!
If you truly LOVE animals NEVER get an exotic animal. Most exotic animals end up dumped in shelters because they turn out to be too much trouble for the owner--and then what happens? The animal languishes in some cage and never has a normal life.
If you want to find out how to handle a monkey, find a rescue organization that takes monkeys near you. Volunteer to work with the monkeys and learn how to handle them, what problems they can cause and then IF you can, MAYBE adopt one that needs a home.
The ONLY good reason I can think of for anyone to own a monkey is that some people are training Capuchin monkeys to be assistants for paraplegic and other handicapped people. The monkeys can open doors, the refrigerator, insert video tapes and do other things that assistance dogs can't do.
Think LONG and HARD before you try to find a monkey!!!!!

thing about monkeys is they are cute but they are very destructive - you pretty much have to keep it with you all the time.
Most people who keep monkeys and similar exotics are people who lack self esteem they try to make people think they are cool because they have something unique but really society just thinks these people are loosers with monkeys and people who really love animals know that these people do not - since an animal lover would not make a pet out of an animal that does better in the wild than on a shoulder

Look in the mirror.
Evolution says all us monkeys are related.
Monkeys are very intelligent, very easily bored, and VERY destructive. They bite HARD!
Get a baby-it's easier, and they grow up and move away.
Volunteer at the zoo..Don't encourage poaching in wild places.

Don't think the monkey would be as thrilled about the experience as you would. Very possibly it's even illegal.

Look up Exotic Pets on the net. Sorry to laugh but I almost told you to ask that guy who's avatar is a chimpanzee and ask him if he had some small friends.

Do a little more research on them. They require massive amounts of care, just like a baby. But they really are cute.
I think you have to have a special permit for them also.

Go to:
http://www.petmonkey.info/index.html
Pay special attention to Articles/Info and Testimonials and the powerpoint presentation, please.
Then tell me if you still want one.
Non-human primates do not make good pets, PERIOD!!
Be prepared, some of the pictures are a bit harsh, but they're real. Please, THINK IT OVER and get a more suitable pet.
Good luck.
