Thank you all for the help! You know I tried the first answer first! But unfortunatley you need windows XP to run the new 2007. I found this out after I downloaded it! Then I realized that I would be transferring my copy to another computer which I was told wouldn't work, the next thing was the last answer and it is working perfectly! Again thank you all for the info.

You do use the same CDs, but like someone already posted, you can't just copy an installed version of Word to CD and put it on a new computer. If you want to install Word on a new computer, I recommend instead installing a program called OpenOffice.org. It is a full featured office suite that includes a word processor comprable to word as well as presentation software (like Power Point) and a spreadsheet (like Excel). This program is free to download and use on any number of computers and can read and write Word documents.

you can get it at http://www.openoffice.org/

Word will not work if copied to a cd from the PC. This is because the Microsoft Office installer also installs some files in the Windows folder and also configures Windows to run Word.

The Word files are actually mixed with other Microsoft Office files in c:\Program Files\Microsoft Office, so you need to copy entire folder to your CD. So you could use the same program that you use on your existing data CD.

Again, don't expect Word to run from the CD or if you copy the files to another machine. You will need the installation CD to run a working copy of Word.

Grandma - if you have a cd writer, its the same process as when you copy music onto your cds and please use another cd for files and different cds for music. This way it won't be confusing. When you open your writer program, choose file not music and then just click or drag the files you want to burn into the window where it says "files to burn". Good luck. Unlike copying music, files copied onto a cd will verify itself after the burning process, do not take the cd out first and let it go in once more. After the verification process is finished, then you can take your cd out.
